Thomas P. Miller, University of Arizona

Thomas P. Miller is Professor of English and Vice Provost for Faculty Affairs at the University of Arizona. He has directed both the Writing Program and the graduate program in Rhetoric, Composition and the Teaching of English.  He has won awards for teaching, mentoring graduate students, and leadership on diversity issues.  He has published five books and over fifty articles, chapters, and reviews on rhetorical theory and history, the teaching of writing, and the history of higher education. He received a national book award from the Modern Language Association for the first volume in his two-part study of the history of college English studies and the humanities.  The second volume was published in 2011 as The Evolution of College English: Literacy Studies from the Puritans to the Postmoderns.
